Homework
Reading books need to be in school every day and will be changed on a Friday for Year 2. Books will be changed for Year 1 according to their Read Write Inc. 3- or 5-day timetable.
Homework will be sent home on a Friday and is due to be returned on a Wednesday.
Year 1 homework will consist of handwriting practice and Maths linked to work previously completed in class.
Year 2 homework will consist of an English task and Maths linked to work previously completed in class.
Reading at St George's
Reading is a huge part of life at St George’s. We ask that all children read at least 4 times a week at home to ensure they become fluent, comprehensive readers. Children will receive a raffle ticket every time there are 10 signatures in their reading record. One ticket will be drawn from each class at the end of every half term. The winner will receive a reading hamper of age-appropriate books.Alongside our class library, we also have our Top 10 Reads. These are books which have been specially chosen to promote reading for pleasure, equality and a high level of vocabulary. Children are encouraged to read as many of these 10 books throughout the year and record which they have read in the reading record.
Reading at Home - Oxford Owl
Alongside their school reading books at home, the children have access to Oxford Owl Online eBooks. The children's login details can be found in their reading records. These books will be able to support comprehension because at the end of each book children will have the opportunity to attempt the online quiz. Regular readers will become more fluent and have a good understanding of what they have read.
PE
Daisy class participate in PE on a Wednesday afternoon.
Please ensure children have a full PE kit in school, kits will remain in school and will be returned home at the end of each term.
